To record the sale of Snack items (cash sales from the kitchen which display on line (01) of the Catering Return), refer to the following

To Record Snack Income

Use the following rules to determine when food items can be recorded as non-VATable:

  • All hot adult meals and snacks (e.g. jacket potatoes) are VATable if they are eaten anywhere on the school premises

  • All cold adult meals and snacks (e.g. baguettes) are VATable if they are eaten in the dining area/hall

  • All cold meals and snacks (e.g. baguettes) are non-VATable if they are not eaten in the dining area/hall, i.e. eaten in any other area within the school premises

  • All child meals and snacks (e.g. baguettes) are non-VATable


First set up the snack buttons Set up Snack Items

  1. Click on the Income tab

  2. Select the blue Sales button

  3. Select the School meals button

  4. Click on either the:

    1. Snacks (non-VATable) button to record snack income without VAT

    2. Snacks (VATable) button to record snack income with VAT

  5. A dialog box will be displayed stating Price entry is required for this item

  6. Enter the total amount of the snack money and click OK.

  7. Click the blue Total button

  8. Select Cash 

  9. If prompted Do you want to print a receipt, select Yes or No as required

These funds will appear on line (01) of the M1 Catering Return (excluding VAT) on the day that they were entered into SCO
