Our Toshiba Receipt Printer isn't Working
1. Did you install the Epson printer drivers first, as per the guide?
It is imperative that you first install the Epson drivers as instructed in section 2 of the guide
If you didn't do this, you will need to uninstall the printer via Control Panel, Add or remove programs and reinstall, carefully following the instructions in the Toshiba Receipt Printer Installation Guide
2. Check all connections
Ensure a till roll has been inserted correctly into the receipt printer (the paper should come up from under the roll, not over the top)
Ensure the power cable is fully inserted and plugged into a power socket with the power switched on
Ensure the USB cable is inserted into the printer and into a USB port in your computer
Ensure the receipt printer is switched on (green power light is on)
Test the printer by clicking on Audit | Income and Expenditure Log, select any transaction to display the View transaction window. Click on Print
3. Have you configured the printer in SCO?
Click on the Configuration tab
Select System options
Click on the Device tab
The What type of receipt printer is fitted? field should read Receipt Printer
The value in the Printer name field should be the default of ReceiptPrinter (capital R and P without spaces)

IMPORTANT - the printer device name must be configured identically in both the Toshiba configuration utility and in SCO
4. Was the printer switched on before starting SCO?
Switch off the printer
Exit SCO
Switch on the printer
Login to SCO
Test the printer by clicking on Audit | Income and Expenditure Log, select any transaction to display the View transaction window. Click on Print
5. Check the printer name
IMPORTANT - the printer device name must be configured identically in both the Toshiba configuration utility and in SCO
Click on Start | Control panel | TEC POS Drivers
Expand OPOS CONTROL, expand POSPrinter
Double click on TRSTA1U.
Make sure Used logical device name is ticked and ReceiptPrinter is entered correctly in the box (capital R and P without spaces)
Start Schools Cash Office and log in
Click on Configuration | System Options | Device
Ensure Receipt Printer is selected in the What type of receipt printer is fitted? field
Ensure ReceiptPrinter (capital R and P without spaces) is typed in the Printer name field
Click on Done
Exit Schools Cash Office to apply the settings
Start Schools Cash Office and log in
Test the printer by clicking on Audit | Income and Expenditure Log, select any transaction to display the View transaction window
Click on Print
If none of the above options resolve the issue, there may be a hardware fault with your PC or the receipt printer.
To check whether the receipt printer has a hardware fault try installing on a different PC.
The Installation Guide can be downloaded below. A link to the printer drivers can be found in the Installation Guide.
