There are a number of possible reasons why your receipt printer may not be working. You should check each of the possible causes described below.
Did you know that all receipts (cash, cheques and online payments) can be viewed by the parent on their  account under Your info, Payment history?

Our Toshiba Receipt Printer isn't Working

1. Did you install the Epson printer drivers first, as per the guide?

  1. It is imperative that you first install the Epson drivers as instructed in section 2 of the guide

  2. If you didn't do this, you will need to uninstall the printer via Control PanelAdd or remove programs and reinstall, carefully following the instructions in the Toshiba Receipt Printer Installation Guide



2. Check all connections

  1. Ensure a till roll has been inserted correctly into the receipt printer (the paper should come up from under the roll, not over the top)

  2. Ensure the power cable is fully inserted and plugged into a power socket with the power switched on

  3. Ensure the USB cable is inserted into the printer and into a USB port in your computer

  4. Ensure the receipt printer is switched on (green power light is on)

  5. Test the printer by clicking on Audit | Income and Expenditure Log, select any transaction to display the View transaction window. Click on Print



3. Have you configured the printer in SCO?

  1. Click on the Configuration tab

  2. Select System options

  3. Click on the Device tab

  4. The What type of receipt printer is fitted? field should read Receipt Printer

  5. The value in the Printer name field should be the default of ReceiptPrinter (capital R and P without spaces)

  6. Test the printer by clicking on Audit | Income and Expenditure Log, select any transaction to display the View transaction window. Click on Print

IMPORTANT - the printer device name must be configured identically in both the Toshiba configuration utility and in SCO



4. Was the printer switched on before starting SCO?

  1. Switch off the printer

  2. Exit SCO

  3. Switch on the printer

  4. Login to SCO

  5. Test the printer by clicking on Audit | Income and Expenditure Log, select any transaction to display the View transaction window. Click on Print




5. Check the printer name

IMPORTANT - the printer device name must be configured identically in both the Toshiba configuration utility and in SCO

  1. Click on Start | Control panel | TEC POS Drivers

  2. Expand OPOS CONTROL, expand POSPrinter

  3. Double click on TRSTA1U.

  4. Make sure Used logical device name is ticked and ReceiptPrinter is entered correctly in the box (capital R and P without spaces)

  5. Start Schools Cash Office and log in

  6. Click on Configuration | System Options | Device

  7. Ensure Receipt Printer is selected in the What type of receipt printer is fitted? field

  8. Ensure ReceiptPrinter (capital R and P without spaces) is typed in the Printer name field

  9. Click on Done

  10. Exit Schools Cash Office to apply the settings

  11. Start Schools Cash Office and log in

  12. Test the printer by clicking on Audit | Income and Expenditure Log, select any transaction to display the View transaction window

  13. Click on Print


If none of the above options resolve the issue, there may be a hardware fault with your PC or the receipt printer.
To check whether the receipt printer has a hardware fault try installing on a different PC.
