Useful Information

There are various configurable options when setting up the Communications module.
The initial setup would usually be done alongside your Training Consultant.

Communications - System Options

  1. Click on the Configuration tab

  2. Select System options

  3. Click on the Communications tab

Choose from the following options:

Options set across the system for all users

School email address for replies (if required):

Enter the email address for parents to reply to here.
Enter donotreply@scopay.com if you do not wish to receive replies from parents.

Text message from address:

Enter the mobile phone number for parents to reply to here.
Alternatively, enter up to 11 characters without spaces which will be displayed on the parent's mobile when a text is sent e.g. SchoolName

Import contacts from MIS system

Tick this box to allow the import of pupil and staff data from your MIS.
Do not tick this option if parents register their details online.

Same-name limit for contact import

This should read 25

On import default to

Select Text message or email to set each pupil's Contact preference to send a text message as a priority over sending emails to that pupil's contacts.

Select Email or text message to set each pupil's Contact preference to send an email as a priority over sending texts to that pupil's contacts.

Bear in mind that Emails are free to send whereas texts are chargeable, so the second option would be more favourable.

(Note - if you later change this setting, you will need to do another pupil (and staff) contact import to update the setting for each account).

Select both of the above options to generate an Email to all pupils with an Email address but a Text to any pupils without an Email address.

Remove contacts no longer in import data by default

Untick this option if you wish to retain any contact details which have already been imported into SCO and are not in your current import file (e.g. whilst importing contacts stored in separate groups in your MIS).
