Useful Information
This document outlines the process for correctly recording non-standard meals and snack income in SCO Dinner Money so that the income is correctly displayed on the Hampshire Catering Return (M1).
Note that the rules for recording this income are as defined by HC3S; this process may also be applicable in other Local Authorities.
How to record snacks for the Hampshire Catering Return (M1)
The following sections describe how to record VATable and non-VATable snack income in Schools Cash Office (SCO).
There are two options for recording snack income:
- Recording snack income using the Dinners screen – see section 2.
- Recording snack income using Product buttons – see section 3. In this instance, you may need to keep a separate record of staff names, the meals taken and how much they owe for the above type of food items (VATable, non-VATable).
Whichever of these methods is used to record snack income, the M1 can then be submitted electronically – see section 4, Submitting the M1 online.
If you wish to set up meal choices as Snack items, refer to the section Meal Codes
