If your school has the Dynamic Link to SIMS.net, but your pupil data is not updating, please follow the troubleshooting steps below.

There is a Problem with the SIMS Link at Our School - How Can We Resolve This?

1. Check your licensed components

  1. Sign into SCO
  2. Click on the Admin tab
  3. Click on System status report
  4. Scroll down to Dynamic link to MIS system
  5. Check the Status reads Licensed
  6. If not, please contact operations@tucasi.com to report the issue

2. Check the Configuration in SCO

  1. Sign into SCO
  2. Click on Configuration
  3. Click on Import from External System
  4. Click on Import Configuration
  5. Check the Data source column and ensure that the drop down boxes are set to SIMS dynamic link and not CSV file for whichever Import types you require
  6. If you are having trouble saving Dynamic Link in this drop down box, please skip to step 4 below, as you may not have the correct permissions to do this

To enable the link to run automatically when you start-up SCO:

  1. Click on Set up auto import
  2. Check the imports are listed in the central window
  3. If not, select the import to Run in the top left box and select on Start up SCO
  4. Click on Add to auto import
  5. Repeat for whichever import types you require
  6. Click OK, click OK
  7. Restart SCO and the imports should run automatically

3. Incorrect SIMS Username, Password or missing Establishment Number in SCO

  1. Click on Configuration
  2. Click on Import from External System
  3. Click on Import Configuration
  4. Click on Dynamic link configuration
  5. Re-enter the SIMS Login Username and Password here
  6. Enter the Establishment Number (copy this from SIMS, Focus, School Details, Establishment Number)
  7. Click on Update

4. The SIMS user may not be assigned to the correct groups in SIMS.net

In order for data to transfer from SIMS.net into SCO, the SIMS user should be a member of the Third Party Reporter, Administration Assistant and Personnel Officer access rights groups for SIMS.net.

To check these permissions:

  1. Log on to SIMS.net as a user with Administrator privileges
  2. Select Focus, click System Manager, select Manage Groups
(if the System Manager or Manage Groups options do not appear, you will need to log in to SIMS with higher privileges)
  3. Search for Third Party Reporter Group
  4. Double click Third Party Reporter
  5. View the Members section to ensure the user is listed
    1. If not, within the Members section, click Add
    2. Search for the User name. From the bottom half of the screen, highlight the user you wish to add and click OK. The user name will appear in the Members section
  6. Click Close to exit the Group screen
  7. Click Yes to save changes
  8. Repeat the above process for the Administration Assistant User Group and Personnel Officer User Group
  9. Exit SIMS.net
  10. Restart SCO and the imports should run automatically

Ensure that the correct permissions are granted in the sco directory. You may need your local IT to assist you with the following steps, as this may require Administrative access to your PC:

  1. Open a My Computer window and click on your computer's C Drive
  2. Locate the sco folder (C:\sco)
  3. Right-click on the sco folder
  4. Click on Properties
  5. Go to the Security tab
  6. Ensure All Users have Full Control, Read, and Write permissions to the folder
  7. Click Edit to make any changes
  8. Click OK
  9. Restart SCO and the imports should run automatically

6. Does SIMS.net sign in automatically for you when you open SIMS on your PC?

If so, SIMS can update the password every 30 days, without the user knowing, so the wrong password may be entered into SCO which may be stopping the link from working. To solve this, you may need to create a new user in SIMS, which has a permanent password. You may need your local IT/SIMS Manager to assist you with this.

Ensure that this new user is assigned to the correct groups, as detailed in step 4.
