Useful Information
Cohorts can be created by importing data from the school pupil management system (for example SIMS, CMIS, Integris). An example might be for subject sets, e.g. for Geography Set8A.
To import cohorts into SCO, you will need to generate a report from your pupil management system and import the pupil data into SCO.
Import a Cohort
1. Create a Cohort
- Click on the Configuration tab
- Select Account configuration
- Select Cohorts
- Click on Cohorts and groups
- Click Add
- Enter the cohort Name Subject
- Click Done
2. Create a Cohort Report
- Create a pupil data report as detailed in the SCO Installation Guide – refer to the section entitled Import Pupil Data. Click here to download a copy of the SCO Installation Guide from the Tucasi website.
- When creating the report, add the relevant fields required for cohorts. This will produce a report showing each pupil and their current cohort.
- In Excel, change the cohort heading to match the heading entered in the section Create cohort(s) above, e.g. Subject.
- Check the Excel CSV file carefully to ensure the pupil data is correct.
- IMPORTANT: Before importing pupil data, carefully review the data to ensure that you have the expected pupil data.
3. Import the new pupil data
This only needs to be carried out once and can be done from any client PC.
- Click on the Configuration tab
- Select Import from external system
- Select Cohort import
- Select the CSV file you saved earlier and click Open
- A message will appear confirming that the Cohort column has been set - click Yes to continue
- Review the next screen carefully reviewing any errors or discrepancies
- Enter a name for the Cohort group e.g. Subject
- Click Confirm
- Once complete, click Close, Close
4. Review the cohort data
- Click on the Configuration tab
- Select Account configuration
- Select Pupils
- Select the Cohorts tab
- Click the + sign to the left of a cohort to view the pupils in the cohort
